We’re a local Charleston, South Carolina florist that has been family-owned & operated ever since 1933 when Lucille F. Styles opened the business with $300, a single employee, and an abundance of determination. Lucille used the flowers that her husband, Homer Styles, grew at Palmetto Floral nursery, designing and creating floral arrangements for every occasion. Deliveries were made with Lucille's very own car with removable signs hanging on it.
From those humble beginnings, she continued to build up the business until it bloomed into being the most popular florist in Charleston. Now, almost a century later, Charleston Florist still holds that precious distinction. Though the competition has also blossomed in this time—with 62 more florists having sprouted up from the 3 that there were all those many years ago—customers still know what to expect any time they walk through our doors. A personal touch, a friendly atmosphere, and the fruits of the lessons learned through multiple generations of providing beautiful flowers and excellent service.

Five Generations of Floral Family Ownership Kristi Smith Johnson, great-granddaughter of Lucille, and her husband Chip continue the family tradition by providing the finest in floral arrangements. The fifth generation of the family—the wonderful Kristina Hunt Diedrick—manages our weddings, so if you are a bride or groom-to-be, you can look forward to working with her.
